Over two days, four hours of live-streaming audio performance was a collaboration between Steve Bradley & John Sturgeon. Linked via Linz, Austria and created for ARS Electronica, “art@radio” with Radiotopia and broadcast by RadioFRO/Kunstradio, Wein, Austria.

Derived from these four hours of live-streaming, John Sturgeon’s poetry/voice inclusions with Steve Bradley’s sound & mix were subsequently published as the WRAP ©2002. Four excerpted pieces from the live streaming event are included as audio (voice & sound), in the PORTFOLIO section: Sound Art.

ARS ELECTRONIC 2002 - UNPLUGGED

Since its establishment in 1979, ARS Electronica as a festival for the arts, technology and society has developed into an internationally influential forum for discussing the socio-cultural dimension of the digital revolution. ARS Electronica is concerned with new artistic approaches in an information society and with the real-life situation in a globalized, informed world. The ARS Electronica 2002 catalogue features selected texts and exemplary projects illustrating how the political momentum of art has returned to the agendas of intellectual discourse and the practice of art itself.

The 2002 Ars Electronica Festival was titled "Unplugged: Art as the Scene of Global Conflicts". It focused on the socio-cultural dimensions of the digital revolution, exploring the intersection of technology, art, and the increasing role of digital media in everyday life.

Theme: "Unplugged" examined the role of art in a world dominated by information and technology, particularly looking at how art can represent and deal with global conflicts and the digital divide.

The event focused heavily on how artists can engage with the technological infrastructure of the time and provide critical perspectives on its societal impacts.
