The undulating sweep of the camera’s interpretive dance (by Dan Reeves) hovers around Sturgeon’s meditative figure. Amid a dream-like setting: candle, woodpile and saw, the imagery swirls in sync with the poetic text and ripping soundtrack, evoking the impression of a - memento mori.
The white wave.... picking me up... carrying me along... with all the images.
I dreamed of the white tidal wave of light
The white wave – picking me up,
picking me up, washing me along –
Washing me away, with all the images.
Memory… memory… holding back the mad,
holding back the… (madness)
You say: go by night – go by night
The time – the time - the time, rules the forest...
Linked - one by one, the fitting place
Saw-tooth,
bit of flesh
Saw of the sun, cut deep
Cut deeper -
The woodsman of the mind axes – cuts:
teeth, lips, bone, jaw – Swallow!
We are just
We are just – holding back
with eyes, fears – we are just -
Face - the honest face to face
We are just –
Watch!
hold dear –
Disappear.
